How To: 80's Centerpiece

Here is another DIY project from the 80's party: A cassette tape style centerpiece that is super easy and budget friendly!
You will need:
-
4- 80's cassettes per centerpiece (I found mine at Salvation Army on sale for 22 cents each- no joke- and had a blast picking out my favorite 80's bands)
-
cheap slinkies from the dollar store (mine actually lit up too)
-
neon skinny glass vases from the dollar store
-
1-Gerber Daisy silk flower in neon color of choice
-
glow stick
-
scrap of retro looking fabric leftover from your 80's fabric garland (see How To)
-
hot glue gun and sticks
Step 1. Lay out how you would like your tapes to appear in the centerpiece, while you heat up your glue gun.
Step 2. Hot glue a single line on inner edge of cassette (the very edge). Attach the second cassette.
Step 3. After that, make sure that the vase you have will fit into the cassette (box) when finished.
Step 3. Continue on until all tapes are attached like in the photo.
Step 4. Place the vase into the center of the "box". I had to actually slip the "box" over the top of the vase and it fit securley.
Step 5. Add the faux Gerber Daisy. You may have to cut it down which is easy to do by bending the stem back and forth and clip off with scissors.
Step 5. When time for the party to start, activate your glow stick and place into the vase. Add the slinky as shown and place all on a scrap of fabric cut geometrically.
Each centerpiece cost me less than $4.00.
Hopefully you will have the same luck I did in finding great deals at the dollar store and Salvation Army. You could also check garage sales, thrift stores, etsy, and ebay. Although, I found the cassettes to be quite expensive on ebay and etsy.
