Save all of your glass pop bottles, and take off the labels and wash thoroughly. Next, write out your invitations on tan or beige paper, tearing the edges slightly. Roll the paper up and put in the bottle. Hand deliver. Or... you can make a 'treasure map', use a tan or beige paper and slightly tear the edges. Make a photocopy or draw a simple map, complete with a "X" that marks the spot. In the corner, write in the information for the party.
-
word your invitations: "If you long for an adventure on the open seas, Alex's birthday party is sure to please." "Come help us search for buried treasure, Having you as our guest, would be a pleasure." (Time/Date/Place) "Yo ho ho, let us know by June 4"
-
Use pirate tableware...
-
Find a 'treasure' chest (or something that you can use for one) and line with a piece of fabric (big enough that it hangs out of chest) and fill with gaudy costume jewelry and big chocolate gold coins ~use this for a centerpiece for the main table (or coffee table, etc.)
-
Decorate with items found around your home, garage sales, consignment shops, and online. ie: seashells, old "treasure chest" (jewelry box), beads, brass candlesticks, fishnet, gold coins, treasure maps (recreated)
